Date Posted: March 23, 2026       Categories: Uncategorized
Native Lands, National Trails (NLNT) is a project partnership between the BLM, Conservation Legacy, Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps, and AmeriCorps that supports an introductory, GIS-focused Indigenous internship program, designed to inform the public and help National Trails and their nonprofit organization partners to advance the National Trails System’s knowledge of Indigenous ancestral lands.
The 50-week position will be based at the BLM, Anchorage Field Office, the Administrator for the Iditarod National Historic Trail, and will focus on building skills in GIS, interpretation, and partnership development. During the course of the internship, the intern will work with the BLM, partner organizations, Alaska Native corporations, federally recognized tribes, and others. The intern will develop public-facing, GIS-based outreach and educational resources about the indigenous history, perspective, and connection to what is today known as the Iditarod National Historic Trail.
