SAVE THE DATE for the joint Northwest Anthropological Conference (NWAC) — Alaska Anthropological Association (AAA) annual meeting, hosted by Western Washington University (WWU) Department of Anthropology!

When: March 25–28, 2026

Where: Western Washington University, Bellingham, Washington

We are pleased to announce a joint conference between the Northwest Anthropological Conference (NWAC) and the Alaska Anthropological Association (AAA). This collaboration brings together scholars, practitioners, and community members from the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and beyond for interdisciplinary exchange and comparative perspectives.

We invite you to prepare for:

  • Joint sessions bridging northwestern and circumpolar anthropology
  • A chance to propose sessions that engage comparative themes across Alaska and the Northwest
  • Networking opportunities across regions

Mark your calendar

  • Abstract / session proposal calls will open later in 2025
  • Organized symposia, papers, posters, panels, and workshops
  • Student paper competition entries must be sole author
  • Details on registration, lodging, and program to follow
  • Abstracts will be due in late December
